The Role:

As the Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) Coordinator, you will lead training projects designed to equip unemployed and underemployed Queenslanders with job-ready skills. Working with Registered Training Organisations and local employers, you will guide students through accredited training, support them in job placements, and provide post-placement assistance to help ensure long-term success.

This is a fixed-term position for 23 weeks with a possibility for extension, offering flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of jobseekers.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Recruit and support students to complete accredited education and traineeship projects in partnership with Registered Training Organisations.
  • Coordinate work placements, engaging with employers to provide post-placement support and ensure students' success.
  • Deliver job readiness workshops, including assistance with resume development and job applications.
  • Monitor project progress, manage project budgets, and report on outcomes as directed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to support recruitment, training, and job placement activities.
  • Assist with funding applications and maintain accurate client records in accordance with policy and procedures

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Diploma in Community Services, Community Development, or a related discipline.
  • A valid Queensland Driver's Licence.
  • Possession of, or willingness to obtain, a Blue Card (Working with Children Check) and National Police Clearance.
  • Experience providing employment support and job readiness training for jobseekers.
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication skills and an understanding of the challenges faced by disadvantaged jobseekers.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a small team.

Location: This position is based in Rockhampton, working 2.5 days per week.
